Frequently Asked Questions

Where is ECU being held?

CareFlite’s Emergency Care Update (ECU) Conference will be held at the Esports Stadium Arlington & Expo Center located at 1200 Ballpark Way, Arlington, Texas on September 11th and 12th.

What's included with my ECU Registration?

ECU is an exceptional value — your registration fee includes all conference presentations, breakfast and lunch, plus coffee, snacks and swag.

Is ECU an association meeting or trade show?

Neither. ECU is an educational conference for emergency care clinicians. CareFlite invites exhibitors to showcase current emergency medical products and services as well as network with attendees.

Who attends ECU?

EMS providers, nurses, dispatchers, leaders, administrators, educators and innovators all attend ECU. They come from systems of all sizes and types, from fire departments and municipalities to private, not-for-profit and hospital-based organizations. It’s a one-of-a-kind environment, in which competition and politics are set aside in the pursuit of collaboration and learning.

Are there registration discounts?

Last year’s attendees were provided a promo code at the conclusion of ECU 2022 and given the week to register at a discounted rate. CareFlite employees ALWAYS attend for free. An internal email will be sent with information or you can contact your supervisor for the 2023 promo code. CareFlite’s partner hospitals receive some free registrations that are distributed by their administration. Certain levels of sponsorship and exhibitors also receive discounted rates. This can be found in the Sponsorship Prospectus once released.

How early do I need to reserve my hotel room?

Details on discounted room blocks will be posted soon. Please check back at ecu.careflite.org in the Spring.

When should I plan to arrive?

If traveling to North Texas we recommend that you arrive Sunday, September 10th as the exhibit hall opens at 0730. ECU runs from Monday, September 11th through 1730 on Tuesday, September 12th.

Can I attend for a single day?

ECU is designed as a complete event, and we encourage you to take advantage of the entire conference experience. But we also recognize that leaders in the emergency sector have many demands on their time, so we include all 34 lectures for the flat rate for people whose schedules are limited. If you can’t attend all classes in-person or want to earn CE for all three tracks, you’ll have on-demand access to all presentations for enduring CE for several months after the conference.

What is included in pre-conference? Are they included with my registration?

The ECU Planning Committee is looking at offering multiple pre-conference options this year. More information will be provided as available. Registration and additional fees are required for the offerings being held on Sunday, September 10th.

What should I wear?

ECU is a leadership event in a relaxed, informal environment. Most participants wear business casual attire (e.g., slacks and a polo shirt, jacket optional). Uniforms typically are not worn unless specified by your organization’s policy.

Should I rent a car?

ECU is being held in the entertainment district of Arlington making walking, hotel shuttles and Uber/Lyft viable and affordable options.

Is there a shuttle available?

CareFlite does not provide transportation for attendees to/from the airport. Please check with your hotel.

Does ECU offer continuing education hours?

YES! ECU was created to provide industry leading education more than 40 years ago. Since, the conference has grown and is now a hybrid event offering up to 34 ANCC contact hours and/or DSHS CE.

Are you taking Covid-19 precautions?

It is our goal to create a safe and enjoyable environment for all during ECU 2023. We continue to monitor the trends and will provide further details as we approach the conference dates.

Can I get a refund?

It is important to remember that all lectures will be recorded and made available for CE for several months after the conference. If you register for in-person and need to change your ticket type due to a schedule conflict, you can change your ticket to virtual by emailing [email protected]

All cancelations must be in writing to CareFlite via email and will be determined on a case-by-case basis. No refunds will be processed after Friday, September 1, 2023. Telephone cancellations will not be accepted.

Attendee substitutions from the same agency will be accepted if requested via e-mail. If you register as an in-person attendee and do not claim your swag bag/shirt at the conference, your items will NOT be mailed to you. If you register as a virtual attendee, your swag bags/shirt will be mailed to the address provided.

Any hotel room cancellations must be made at least seven days prior to arrival; check with hotel for additional details regarding your individual reservation. If making a flight reservation, check with your airline’s cancellation policy.

Please contact a member of the planning committee at [email protected] for further assistance or questions.
