Billy Whitson

Billy Whitson is the Regional EMS Program Director for Texas Health and is an adjunct instructor for the WMD Hazmat Ops Division at the Emergency Services Training Institute (ESTI). ESTI is a division of the Texas A & M Extension Service (TEEX). Billy began working for TEEX in 2024 after spending the last 12 years teaching Hospital Emergency Response Team (HERT) and Emergency Medical Operations for CBRNE (EMO) at the Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston, Alabama. In 2023, Billy was named as the lead instructor for EMO. Billy retired from the Richardson Fire Department after more than 25 years in the fire service. During that time, he has worked as a paramedic at Children’s Health Transport in Dallas, Emergency Department Tech at Medical City Dallas, taught EMT and Paramedic for Navarro College and was the Director of EMT at Richland College before accepting his new role in leadership with Texas Health Plano. Billy earned a master’s degree in public leadership with healthcare administration as well as a bachelor’s degree in emergency management from the University of North Texas.
