Anthony Tannous

Anthony Tannous, M.D., is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in emergency and trauma surgery, abdominal hernia repair, and gastrointestinal surgery. He also has a focused interest in critical care and trauma education for surgical residents and medical students.
Dr. Tannous earned his medical degree at the American University of Beirut Medical Center in Lebanon. He completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston and gained advanced training in surgical critical care through a fellowship at the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
Board certified in surgery and surgical critical care, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022 and is on staff in the Parkland Hospital.
Dr. Tannous is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a previous Young Fellows’ Association Representative at the Maine Chapter of the American College of Surgeons Executive Council. He is also a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma.
