Lee Fernandez
RN, EMT-B

Lee has always enjoyed utilizing critical thinking to care for patients in the controlled environments of the ED and ICU. One day, a medic from San Antonio AirLife came into his ICU with a helmet under his arm, dressed in a bulky flight suit, sweat falling from his brow, toting equipment one tenth the size of the units ventilator and IV pumps. The idea of caring for a critical patient under these conditions was energizing! Shortly after, he was flying as a Nurse for San Antonio AirLife. There, he developed a love for teaching and business development. An opportunity to become a well rounded transport Nurse by utilizing rotor wing, fixed wing and ground ambulances materialized at MedCenter Air, in Charlotte North Carolina. He and his growing family came back to Texas when a new start up named PHI air medical established bases in Houston. After 5 years there, he dedicated himself to teaching at UTMB where he established curriculums that are still in use for hundreds of LVN’s and RN’s assigned to the Texas Corrections System. He then returned to San Antonio AirLife as a business development manager where He helped grow the program from 4 full time bases to 7 full time bases. He eventually transitioned from business development to leading the team as the General Manager. After Airlife’s acquisition he went to work for Victoria Emergency Associates, a company that forms partnerships with Hospitals by providing ED Physicians in both the rural and metropolitan areas of Texas.
